Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully prior to participating in VWSnapshot, which is an independent photo contest (the “Contest”) for the Irish Instagram community.
The Contest is organised by The Snapys team from Connector (the Organiser) based in Connector Studio, 18 Eustace Street, Temple Bar, Dublin 2, Ireland.
Everyone who participates (the ‘Participants’) in the Contest fully and unconditionally agrees to and accepts these VWSnapshotTerms & Conditions. ‘Content’ or an ‘Entry’ refers to a photo or a video entered into the Contest.
Competition Rules – Entering Eligibility for Participation: The Contest is only open to individuals who, at the time of entry: are resident in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland and must be over 16 years of age. Proof of identity, age & address may be required by shortlisted Participants during a final screening process to be conducted by Connector once the Contest has closed.
Participation Period: The Contest is open for participation from 10am on May 24th 2019 until 6 PM on August 20th 2019.
Ownership of Photos / Videos: All entries must be owned and submitted by the Participant on their own Instagram profile.
Permission: By participating in the Contest, the Participants give permission for the entries (i.e. photos, videos, Instagram username of Participants) to be uploaded to the website VWSnapshot.ie. Participants also must have permission from people featured in the Content.
Unlimited Entries: There is no limit to how many times someone can enter the contest with one photo / video or with different photos / videos.
Enter via Instagram: The Participants enter the Contest by uploading their own photos / videos through the free Instagram app. The app can be downloaded via the App store and Google Play Store.
The Photos / Videos: The Participants enter the Contest by tagging photographs relevant to the VWSnapshot category they are uploading, via the Instagram app.
Instagram Hashtags: The mandatory hashtag is #VWSnapshot and sample category hashtags are Volkswagen category #Volkswagen, Light category #light etc.
Hashtag Rules: To be entered into the Contest, each Entry must include the main mandatory hashtag #VWSnapshot and a correct category hashtag (e.g. #Light #Roadtrip). All category hashtags can be found on VWSnapshot.ie.
The Participants cannot retroactively edit old post captions to include mandatory hashtags. Posts where the caption has been edited to include mandatory hashtags will not appear on VWSnapshot.ie
Copyright: Participants who enter Content into VWSnapshot retain the copyright of the Content entered but the organisers and sponsors retain the right to use any of the Content entered. Checking Entries: You can check and find your valid Entry on VWSnapshot.ie by searching for your Instagram username. Failure to use minimum two correct hashtags will mean your Content will not be entered in the Contest.
Staff Restrictions: The VWSnapshot contest is not open to staff of Connector and Volkswagen Ireland (be they employees or contractors), their immediate family members or associated companies, including (but not limited to) the Contest’s promotional partner(s). For these purposes an “immediate family member” includes a spouse, partner, child, stepchild, grandchild, brother, step-brother, sister, step-sister, parent, step parent or legal guardian.
Competition Rules – Voting How To Win: The five most voted entries in each category will be shortlisted for the People’s Choice awards. The Judge’s Choice shortlist of five will be chosen by a judge based purely on talent and creativity, with votes not taken into consideration.
Multiple Votes: To vote for a photo / video, you must login on VWSnapshot.ie using either Instagram, Facebook or Twitter logins. If you login with each social network, one at a time, you will have a maximum total of three votes per category.
Voting: You may ask your friends and members of the public to vote for your Content through the VWSnapshot.ie website – sharing your Entry helps increase the chances of more votes.
Judging: The shortlists from the People’s Choice (5 people per category) and Judge’s Choice (5 people per category) will then be sent to judges. Judging criteria: the photos will be judged based on their relevance for the category, distinctiveness and artistic merit.
Judging Process: The judges review the shortlist and give points to their favourite entries.
Equal Votes: When there are two or more entries with the same number of votes in a category, we will take the top 5 photos for the shortlist. If there is a tie for the 5th position, all will go onto the Shortlist phase, which the judges will then vote upon.
Expenses: All Participants are responsible for any costs or expenses incurred by them as a result of participating in or winning the Contest.
Competition Rules – The Prizes: Each category winner will receive a different prize for winning their category; Roadtrip - Kaiser Baas 1080p Trail Drone Design - Wacom Design Tablet People - Samsung Gear 360 Light - Polaroid Brightsaber Ireland - 75km Helicopter Flight for 2 Volkswagen - Oculus Go VR headset, Trip to Iceland
12 ‘Volkswagen Favourite’ winners will also be part of a special Volkswagen charity calendar with charity partner Temple Street Hospital.
Non-transferable: The prizes are as stated, are not transferable to another individual and no cash or other alternatives will be offered. In the event of a prize being unavailable, the promoter reserves the right to offer an alternative prize of equal or greater value.
Prize Availability: If the winner is unavailable or unable to avail of the prize, the prize will then be awarded to the next judge’s choice. This will continue to occur until an available winner can avail of the prize. The winner will NOT be awarded a cash or prize equivalent.
Winner Publicity: The winner(s) agree(s) to the use of their name, their likeness and photos and will co-operate with any other reasonable requests by Connector and sponsors relating to any post-winning publicity.
Winner Promotion: The winners agrees that his or her Content may be used by The Snapys for general media and marketing purposes without remuneration. The Snapys will introduce the winners to the sponsors and promote the talents of the winners. The winner agrees to the use of their name, likeness and Content and will co-operate with any other reasonable requests by Connector and sponsors relating to any post-winning publicity as it is mutually beneficial.
Losing Prize: Failure to meet the eligibility requirements may result in forfeiture of the prize.
Runner Up: If the Participants receiving the most votes have breached any of the terms and conditions, the Participants receiving the runner up will be deemed the winner.
Competition Rules – Disqualification Unsportsmanlike Behaviour: The Snapys reserve the right at its sole discretion to disqualify any Participant it finds to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Contest; to be acting in violation of these Terms and Conditions; or to be acting in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner, or with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten, or harass any other person or contestant.
Content Policy for Photo Uploads: The Snapys reserve the right to reject entries to the Contest: All Entries into the Contest are subject to The Snapys approval after being uploaded to the Instagram app. All entries that are deemed inappropriate and/or offensive will not be considered. Our Content policy prohibits images containing nudity or sexually explicit material, or Content that is otherwise deemed offensive to any minority group. The Snapys reserve all rights to decide what is considered inappropriate and/or offensive. Participants agree not to create or submit a profile or any picture or video in connection with their Entry into the Contest that is: slanderous, defamatory, derogatory, or slanderous; is pornographic, or otherwise sexually explicit; includes offensive language; portrays violence; portrays or promotes discrimination based on race, sex, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation, portrays or promotes illegal activities; portrays dangerous stunts; promotes bigotry, racism, hatred or harm against any group or individual. If The Snapys discovers that any material submitted by Participants include any such elements or is otherwise inappropriate and/or offensive, then the Entry will be rejected. In addition, in the event that a profile, picture or video is determined by The Snapys, in its sole discretion, to infringe on the intellectual property of any third party The Snapys may likewise reject the Entry. Suspend a Participant: The Snapys reserve the right, in its sole discretion, to remove any photos, or to deny, restrict, suspend, or terminate a Participants access to all or any part of the website at any time, for any or no reason, with or without prior notice or explanation, and without liability.
Disclaimers Liability: The Snapys and the Participants are liable for any claims subject to the Contest under the usual Irish law, subject to the qualifications below.
Operational Issues: The Snapys is not responsible for any lost, late, misdirected, stolen, illegible or incomplete entries. If, for any reason, the Contest is not capable of running as planned, caused by e.g. infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of The Snapys which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Contest, The Snapys reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Contest and/or select winners from all eligible entries received prior to the cancellation. The Snapys reserves the right to correct any typographical, printing, computer programming or operating errors at any time.
Technical Issues: The Snapys is not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, caused by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilised in the Contest or by any technical or human error which may occur in the processing of submissions in the Contest. The Snapys assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries. The Snapys is not responsible for any problems, failures or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers, providers, computer equipment, software, email, players or browsers, on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet, at any website, or on account of any combination of the foregoing. The Snapys is not responsible for any injury or damage to any Participant or to any computer related to or resulting from participating or viewing photos in connection with this contest.
Limitation on Liability: In no event shall The Snapys and/or the sponsors be liable to you or any third party for any indirect, consequential, exemplary, incidental, special or punitive damages, including lost profits damages arising from your Entry into the Contest. Jurisdiction & Amendments
Governing Law: These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the Irish law and the courts of Ireland shall have exclusive jurisdiction in relation to any disputes arising out of or in connection with the Contest. Amendments: The Snapys may modify the Terms & Conditions and such modifications shall be effective upon posting on the webpage VWSnapshot.ie/terms Connector is a trading name for BOSS Metrics Ltd.
